For this project, we were asked to create a logo and branding materials for a high end furniture company called "WildThings". Their company provides elegant, comfortable, and high quality furniture to their customers. They specifically wanted to market to upper-middle class couples in their 30's, so I created several branding pieces to attract that niche market.
The company's name is WildThings, I decided that an animal themed logo would be perfect for their branding and image. Since the company wanted to embody grace and elegance within their branding, what other animal than the Peacock reflects these values? Here's some of my preliminary logo sketches.
After going over some of the sketches, I ended up picking this one. I've been playing around with the golden ratio lately, and I felt like I could make this logo coherent with that design. Here it is sitting over the golden ratio.
And as with most things, I ended up thinking it was too simple- so I scrapped it and started working on a different approach.
I was really starting to like the way it was going- until my Dad said it was morphing into a sad, wonky looking bird-worm. Hate to say it, but the man was right. So- I went back to my original design with a heart full of hope- I could play the minimalism card!
The finished product ended up being my original concept. Honestly? Really happy with there results. Now my cute little peacock just needed fly it's way onto some branding materials! I created pattern paper, a business card, letterhead sheets, envelopes, and an invoice for the company. Check out the results below.
